Gaimaragal Foundation

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

On Gaimaragal Country, we walk together caring for culture, people, and the land as one living story.

The Gaimaragal Foundation Indigenous Corporation is dedicated to revitalising culture, protecting Country, and strengthening community wellbeing.

Our purpose is to ensure that cultural knowledge, ecological understanding, and community connections remain strong, living and relevant for generations to come.

We acknowledge the unbroken relationship to our coastlines, headlands, rivers, rock platforms and bushlands — relationships forged through Lore, language, ceremony and reciprocal care for all living systems.
We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. These lands, waters, skies, and all beings within them still hold the knowledge, the responsibilities and the cultural authority of First Peoples.
We pay respect to Elders past and present who continue to guide us. We also honour the young ones who carry the stories forward, and the Ancestors whose footsteps remain embedded in this Country.

At the heart of the Gaimaragal Foundation is a commitment to truth, cultural strength, and genuine relationship-building.

About Us

Who We Are

The Gaimaragal Foundation Indigenous Corporation is a non-profit organisation grounded in the cultural, ecological, and social knowledge systems. We work alongside Elders, cultural knowledge holders, community groups, and partner organisations to embed Indigenous leadership, environmental stewardship, and cultural principles into programs across education, community wellbeing, and environmental practice.

Our Story

The Gaimaragal Foundation emerged from a long family legacy of cultural leadership, advocacy, and service to community. As a registered Indigenous Corporation under ORIC, the Foundation exists to deliver charitable projects focused on wellbeing, cultural revitalisation, and community empowerment.
We work closely with our for-profit sister organisation, the Gaimaragal Group Pty Ltd, who provides strategic partnership, sponsorship, and in-kind support. This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver high-impact initiatives

Our Focus

Our work is grounded in the Northern Beaches and the wider Northern Sydney region — Country rich with deep history, living culture, and enduring responsibilities.
While this is where the Foundation is based and where many of our cultural relationships sit, our work extends well beyond these boundaries.
We operate across multiple sectors, and our programs, partnerships, and advocacy reach regional, state, and national levels. Wherever we work, we carry the same commitment: to uphold cultural integrity, strengthen community wellbeing, and ensure Indigenous Knowledge Systems shape the future.

Why This Matters

Building a future shaped by Indigenous Knowledge Systems is essential for the wellbeing of all communities and the land itself.

Our work aims to:

This is essential work — not symbolic, not optional — but fundamental for a sustainable future

Vision

To strengthen the relationship between people and Country by sharing cultural knowledge,
ecological understanding, and the stewardship traditions of the Gaimaragal. We are committed to keeping culture alive, practised, and respected well into the future.

How We Work

All projects begin with deep listening and meaningful consultation with Elders and cultural knowledge holders. Indigenous voices lead every decision and guide every stage of development.

Our approach is shaped by three core principles:

Revitalising culture, strengthening community, and protecting Country, together.

Recharge

Restoring strength, motivation, and community wellbeing.

Reawaken

Bringing cultural knowledge, stories, and responsibilities back into everyday practice.

Rekindle

Strengthening relationships  with each other and with Country through shared cultural action.
